Strong
Results for Kazeem at La Conca - 15 May 2006 |
La
Conca, Italy - Kazeem Manzur walked away from the
third round of the Italian Open Masters at La Conca,
Italy, with the fourth highest points haul following
a weekend of mixed fortune for the young British
Karter. The Team Zanardi ace demonstrated his pace
by taking pole position ahead of 75 other drivers
in time qualifying. A heat win and solid results
in his other heats would have secured a top five
start for the first final. Unfortunately Kazeem
suffered a ten second penalty for allegedly jumping
the rolling start when on pole for one of his heats,
meaning he would start the first final from a lower
position than his performances merited........More

Spanish
Champions Cup Review - 5 December 2005 |
| Kazeem
is heading out to Vendrell near Barcelona to compete
in the Trofeo V Copa Campeones (Spanish Champions
Cup) on Sunday 11th December. For 2006, in the ICA
Junior class, he will be the only official driver
for Team Zanardi and the only fully factory supported
driver for engine manufacturer IAME.
Kazeem: "At this level the Competition is very tough.
There are 50 drivers entered in the ICA-J category
alone. The poor weather in Italy where I live has
made it difficult to do as much testing as we would
have liked over the last 3 or 4 weeks. However, we
are confident that we have made some important steps
in improving the overall race package and are looking
forward to achieving a good result this weekend to
end the 2005 season on a high note. Also with the
new chassis homologations for 2006, Dino [Chiesa]
has been working hard to develop a chassis that suits
my driving style and we are hoping to achieve a major
step forward in chassis performance at the beginning
of next season"
The Spanish Champions Cup is traditionally the European
Season Finale and many of the top European Junior
drivers are entered to race. The Junior Final will
be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. Local Time . |

4th
in Italian Open Masters in Rookie Year - 23
September 2005 |
| Kazeem
finished 4th in his first attempt in the Italian Open
Masters Championship. This is quite a remarkeable
achievment and we believe equals the highest finish
by any British Driver (Lewis Hamilton in 1998) in
his first year in the ICA-J class. It is generally
accepted that the Italian Open is the toughest Championship
in the World with approximately 70 entries from over
18 different countries. To put the whole Championship
in perspective if Kazeem had won his final race instead
of coming 5th (having been fired Off whilst in 2nd
position with a few laps to go) he would have actually
been Italian Open Masters Champion! Kazeem's next
race will be at the Torneo Industrials in Parma where
he will be fighting hard to win the two round Championship.
Kazeem has also settled well into his new school in
Florence and has made many friends. We believe that
being in Italy will immensely help his campaign next
year when he will once again contest the Italian Open
Masters and possibly the new WSKarting Championship
which will be on the CIK International Sporting Calendar.
His updated calendar is available by clicking Racing
on the menu bar. |

Top
Brit in European JICA Qualifiers - 18 July
2005 |
| The
Western region qualification round was held at Salbris,
France and drew a 60 strong entry in the ICA-J class
with only the top 24 finishers eligible to go through
to the Finals in Sarno, Italy in September. Kazeem
put in a solid performance despite having had one
poor heat due to being caught up in an accident. However,
in the Prefinal he made a good start but damaged his
bumper causing massive understeer throughout the race
and making him 1 second per lap too slow. Despite
this he managed to hang on to a decent 14th finish.
Starting 14th in the Main Final he got through the
opening lap and gradually reeled the leaders in. On
the last lap Kazeem was up to 4th place but an ambitious
lunge by a driver pushed Kazeem wide and he had to
settle for 7th at the chequered flag. This last move
was one of so many over the weekend which meant that
many of the favourites did not qualify because of
stupid accidents and DNF's. Fortunately Kazeem kept
his head and ensured that by sensible racing he was
sure to qualify to race in the finals in Italy later
this year. He was the top classified British Driver
finishing 8th overall through the combination of the
points from the Pre Final and Main Final. |

Solid
Recovery Pushes Kazeem to 3rd in Italian Open - 5
July 2005 |
| A
bad batch of control tyres almost wrecked Kazeem's
Championship chances in the 4th round of the Italian
Open Masters held at Val Vibrata. He was quickest
all weekend during free practice but in qualifying
he could only manage 4th. The tyre problem became
progressively worse during the heats when Kazeem could
only manage a 6th and a 9th in his two heats. This
placed him on grid 16 for the final but, under the
rules, two of the tyres can be replaced with new ones
for the final. This change transformed the handling
of his kart and the Little Linford youngster made
a fantastic charge from his lowly grid position to
come home 6th and pick up 10 valuable points to keep
his championship hopes alive. During the race he made
some breathtaking overtaking moves at points on the
track that are considered almost impossible. Overall
it was an incredible recovery from an almost hopeless
position and showed that Kazeem has the fighting spirit
to bounce back from adversity. |

Kazeem
Moves up to 4th in the Championship Table - 30
May 2005 |
| A
difficult weekend at La Conca saw Kazeem make the
best of a chassis and engine combination which were
not working at their best. He managed to qualify 5th
and completed his two heats by finishing in 3rd and
5th. This meant a P6 grid position for the final which
unfortunately is on the outside. It is easy to forget
that this is Kazeem's rookie season in Jica and to
land P6 for the final out of 72 competitors is no
mean feat. Nevertherless, a safe start and a solid
drive saw him grab 8th at the end of the 20 lap final.
Scoring these valuable 8 points have kept alive his
hunt for a top three finish in the championship with
2 rounds and 50 points to fight for. Although not
the best of results Kazeem can at least have the consolation
of knowing he was the best placed Brit in the finals
out of all of the race categories. Kazeem will now
do some extensive testing in readiness for the Eurpean
Qualifiers to be held at Salbris in France during
July as well as trying to find more pace for the next
round of the Italian Open to be held at Val Vibrata,
Italy on the 3rd of July. |
